I smell Christmas rice already; October is coming to an end; where are my knock-outs?

Yes oh; I’m an Edo boy and Christmas starts in late September with Christmas singles, knock-outs and Father-Christmas. So, this very right now (not correct English o), Christmas is so on my mind already. Anyway, let me not forget what brought me here; my name is Earl, and I am Alright.

Today, I want to show you that GOD SHOWS-OFF HIS AFFAIRS as part of HOW TO BE LIKE GOD IN YOUR RELATIONSHIP (Pt. 6).

I have seen many people in committed romantic relationships that are in it in secret. Some have some fears and it’s a little bit okay and understandable (although not healthy and safe). Some others think it’s ungodly. So, they are having secret dates.

Some customs have it as immoral for two unmarried people to public express their love.

I am African, Nigerian, Edo and Esan, so I know about the cultural aspect of it first-hand, but I’m also a Christian! However, does the Bible support two unmarried singles to publicly express their love for each other? See SONGS OF SONGS.

HOW TO BE LIKE GOD IN YOUR RELATIONSHIP is geared towards imitating the Romantic/Relationship sides of God. Yeah, imitating the relationship between the members of the Trinity and the relationship between them, jointly and severally with man. Ephesians 5:1 advices us to imitate God and the sole purpose is to love our partner/spouse as Christ loves us; John 15:12, Romans 5:8.

Examine all the relationships God had with individuals in the Bible, He showed-off all of them! He showed-off His relationship with Job, Abraham, David, Solomon, Jesus, John etc. He flaunts His affairs mheeen.

When He loved a person or a people, He never kept the affair secret; the whole world knew about it. His love was all adjectives; talking and doing so that others and the person will know. God doesn’t do secret affairs.

The only time He hid a relationship was because He was protecting His “love” from harm. See 1Kings 19.

So, it’s okay to hide your relationship if you know your friends and family may not easily accept the person. And this acceptance issue is based on background or uncontrollable circumstances of his/her birth.

Remember that you can’t really water-down the place and role of family and friends in choosing who to marry. They know you well and can’t be infected by infatuation should that be the case in your relationship.

But then,

If you need to hide your relationship, because you’re yet to conclude on it, it shouldn’t be more than 3 months! I don’t think it is healthy and proper to hide a romantic affair beyond 1 month. 3 months is enough to be sure about it. Stop WATCHING and OBSERVNG the relationship beyond 90 days. You’ve already watched it enough to decide correctly about it.

I am sure the whole world knew Jacob and Rachael were in something all through the 7 years (Gen 29:11-30). I’m sure everybody knew that the dudes and babes in Songs of Solomon had fire in them. I’m also sure the whole village knew about Mary and Joseph, so the only way to save face was an attempted secret breakup.

Bae, Boo, why are you hiding the relationship, is it because it’s bad or you’re double-dating or not wanting to commit? Yes, you may want to keep it from the general public for a time but not from family, friends, mentors and loved ones. That will definitely not BEing LIKE GOD IN YOUR RELATIONSHIP; He flaunts His because they are holy and godly. If yours is holy and godly flaunt it; on facebook, on DPs, on jewelries and attires; give her a ring; make it obvious.

Abeg, don’t be “selfish and self-centred” like Abraham and Jacob who hid their MARRIAGE to save their lives.

Another way on HOW TO BE LIKE GOD IN YOUR RELATIONSHIP is to flaunt it. God shows-off His affairs! But lastly sha, it’s your relationship with Jesus that makes your other relationship(s) sweet. See Romans 10:9.

Fall in love with someone seriously, and if it fails, fail inlove with another seriously. Call it life. –Kevin Alandou
